This looks like an interesting documentary. It sends home the message that there are many good opportunities for investment in Africa, highlighting the following industries:
- Housing finance bank in Ghana
- Agricultural exports (produce and flowers) in Kenya
- Manufacturing children’s clothing in Nigeria
- Textile factory in Lesotho
- Animation design studio in Senegal
- Diamond production in Botswana
- Coffee house in Kampala
- Adventure activities
- Airline in Somalia
- Cell phone company in the Congo
It is time that we stop looking at Africa only as a basket case and find opportunities for investment- and change!

I just found out about Acumen and am very impressed by what you have done in 5 years and the partners you have gathered to tackle these problems.
I am based in Sierra Leone currently and would say of course there are great investment opportunities in Africa. That doesn’t seem to be a question as I see telecommunications companies (5 right now), hotel building, diamond mines, real estate investments and much more coming since the end of the war here.
However, what are some of the problems are quality (at every level imports, exports, work, products, education…), not just increasing investments that end up taking advantage of the people (now people in Freetown need a cell phone and spend what little they earn on cards to feed it instead of themselves), and the growing divide wealth divide.
