Laurie Garrett on the global health paradigm

Make sure you read Laurie Garrett’s insightful and provocative speech at the IFC Health Conference in Washington, DC. Laurie not only has a clear and powerful voice but she also refuses to see poor people as passive recipients and focuses on solving problems from the perspective of freeing human energies. She is a great advocate of Acumen Fund’s approach in using markets to address social needs (including public health). Her voice is a needed one.

I hope you have seen the article in USA Today,
‘Plague emerges in Grand Canyon.’ (P. 6D, Tuesday October 21, 2008).
After I read it, your book, ‘Betrayal of Trust,’ came to mind.I dug out my copy and read up on pneunomic plague.
This is old hat to you, but after re-reading about the outbreak in India, I shudder to think of the Grand Canyon being quarantined.
    How quick can you come
& educate us on how we can best cope with it?
